The Afrikan Poetry Theatre is a cultural resource and educational institution with broad multidiscipline programs for the community. The renovated building will have two stories and a cellar. The first floor will have an Auditorium seating 110 persons, in the cellar a large classroom and utility rooms and 2nd floor will be designated for Administrative Offices, Computer Lab and Library. The building’s total gross square footage is approximately 7,200.
Bicaluro Associates P.C. provided complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) design services.
The selected HVAC system for this building was a combination of high efficiency variable air volume rooftop units with VAV boxes and hydronic baseboard radiators with hot water for heating.
This project is registered for LEED NC 2.2 certification.
